The Mustad KVD Elite Treble Hooks were a key element to KVD's win at the 2010 Bassmasters Classic on Lay Lake. The KVD Elite Trebles are slimmer and have chemically sharpened points for quicker penetration. The KVD Elite Trebles are also 30% stronger than other trebles, and are Nor-Tempered for brute strength to make sure the big one does not get away. A key to the KVD Elite Trebles are the length which is shorter than the standard treble hook. This prevents the trebles from tangling together while fishing. Having a shorter shank is also advantageous because it allows you to use larger hooks on your crankbaits and jerkbaits, and using larger hooks gives you more power when fighting a fish.
Mustad’s extra strong wire provides additional power so you get minimal flex and better penetration at hook set. The added strength means you can lean back and get the big ones to the boat faster with less wear on the fish. A shorter, controlled fight also means you have less chance to lose that fish of a lifetime.
The new design has a modified, wider point angle than previous Triple Grip models which creates a wider gap than like sized round bend treble hooks.
The point length is engineered to be 4.3 times the wire diameter of the hook which is the optimum ratio for maximum sharpness and strength. Ultra Point hooks are 20% sharper and designed to stay sharper longer. |
